In contrast to traditional topical drug delivery technologies that create a bolus of drug on the surface of the skin and rely on passive diffusion for delivery, Transport’s Electrokinetic Transdermal System (ETS) drives a large bolus of drug into the skin, creating an intradermal drug depot in a single treatment. The technology provides unique convenience and control to the patient and/or physician, enabling painless self-treatment for a variety of dermatologic conditions.
The ETS technology is being employed to create a rich pipeline of potential products. These include the SoloVir™ ETS for the treatment of herpes labialis, a transungual ETS for the treatment of onychomycosis, a steroid delivery ETS for the treatment of mild to moderate adult acne and psoriasis, and an improved delivery ETS of imiquimod for actinic keratosis treatment.
The field of anti-aging and medical aesthetics will be revolutionized by advancements in macromolecular delivery through electrokinesis. Transport is actively conducting studies in this new field of dermatology.
